Our Mission and Values

Nurturing today’s children, shaping tomorrow’s world

Let’s be honest: talking with our children isn’t always easy. Who hasn’t asked “How was your day at school?” only to hear the usual “good”?

When it comes to sensitive topics, things can feel even harder. Many of us parents worry about saying too much, too little, or simply not finding the right words.

It’s tempting to fall back on “you’re too young to understand”. But we know that, just like we did at their age, children will always find answers, whether right or wrong, to their questions.

That’s why, at Yékrak, we’ve created a playful, educational, and fully customizable book for children. It opens the door to meaningful conversations about difficult topics in a safe family setting.

With this book, we aim to give parents a practical tool that builds confidence and supports open, caring dialogue with their children.

The genesis

The Yékrak journey began a few years ago when a young relative of the founder, then only three years old, was told she was “different” because she was of mixed-heritage. At school, children learn to read and count, but not always how to live together with kindness and respect. And parents, too, often lack the right tools to guide these conversations.

As a father of two mixed-heritage children, he wanted to find the best way to approach these sensitive issues with both children and parents.

A personalised book quickly became the obvious choice. By placing each child at the heart of the story, it becomes easier for them to see themselves as the hero and to engage with important themes in a playful, meaningful way. Books have always been a powerful bridge between adults and children, a space for connection, learning, and imagination.

And that is how Yékrak was born.

An eco-responsable approach

A well-known proverb reminds us that we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors — we borrow it from our children. That’s why we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint. Our books are printed in Normandy, France, by a printer certified with the “Imprim’Vert” label, which guarantees environmentally responsible production.

Even our packaging is eco-friendly, made from 70% recycled materials, helping us reduce our impact on the planet.

Socially commited

We want to go beyond simply creating personalised children’s books. That’s why we donate 1% of our revenue to an organisation dedicated to protecting the environment, making every story part of a bigger change.

The team

The Yékrak team is driven by one mission: helping families talk openly and teaching children through play and positivity. Together, we can make this vision known to all.

Dunay

Child psychologist

Dunay is a psychologist and psychotherapist with a extensive career in the field of childhood and adolescence. She loves stories and enjoys reading them with children, as these moments provide valuable opportunities to talk about many subjects, sometimes complex ones. They also create spaces for dialogue, joy in life, problem-solving, and creativity.

Grégory

Founder and author

A versatile creator with a big heart and father of two young children, Grégory has spent the last decade living in three different European countries, giving him an even broader outlook on life. Passionate about children’s literature since childhood, his shelves were once filled with favourites such as The Three Brigands, Matilda, Boule et Bill, and Placid et Muzo.

A few years ago, his two children became a true source of inspiration for this project. At heart, he is an eternal optimist and hopes that this book will help encourage positive and caring education within families, and perhaps even contribute to creating a better world.

Mariola

Graphic designer

Passionate about design and the daughter of an artist, Mariola has loved the world of art since childhood. Over the years, she chose the mouse over the paintbrush and studied design, building a career in corporate graphics, branding, and editorial work. She is always eager to learn, improve, and take on new challenges, often exploring other creative fields to refine her skills.

Estelle

Illustrator

Estelle is a freelance illustrator from Nantes. With values rooted in nature, education, and playfulness, she was immediately drawn to the Yékrak project and happily contributed by creating its illustrations.
